My fight for justice will continue, says actress Ansiba Hassan

Actress and former Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA) joint secretary Ansiba Hassan on Tuesday (June 9) said she will continue her legal battle against the body’s executive committee member and actor Tina Tom for making alleged communal remarks and derogatory comments against her.

“I hope the government will stand by me in my fight for justice,” she told the media after submitting her statement in connection with her complaint against Mr Tom at the Kadavanthra police station here. She said she would approach the court if the police did not register a case against Mr. Tom. She feared that she might not get justice as her co-star was often seen rubbing shoulders with various politicians.

Although she initially filed the complaint with the Infopark police, it was later handed over to the Kadavanthra police station. She said she was hurt after coming across baseless allegations against her and her family members.

As for whether she would appear before the panel announced by the AMMA leadership on her complaint, she wondered how she could appear before the panel, which included the association’s president Shwetha Menon, against whom she had leveled allegations of not giving due weight to her complaints initially.

She reiterated that Mr Tom had shared remarks about her apart from separately making derogatory comments on the association’s executive committee WhatsApp group. Mr Tom denied the allegations and said there was a conspiracy to defame him. Ms. Menon had earlier said that the executive committee had set up a panel to hear complaints raised by various members of the executive committee, including Ms. Hassan.
