The Reddit user working in the Sales Sales Department shared an incident in which 20% of their salary was deducted because the client did not balance his fees. The user also claimed that no written notifications for wage reduction or any policy of mentioning this rule have been submitted.
The user wrote: “Hi everyone, I work in a selling role for a handover company. This month my employer deducted 20% of my salary and said it was because one of my clients did not pay our outstanding fees.”
“I never got anything in writing. The only” announcement “I had was a verbal interview with the head of the department, nor this policy or rule is not listed in HR policy or on my appointment letter,” the user added.
The user emphasized the impact of salary reduction and sought proposals to solve this problem.
“This deduction is financially significant to me and I am not sure whether it is legal for employers to reduce the salary of the employee as a result of the client’s payments. Any instructions or advice would be awarded,” the user wrote.
When answering one of the comments, the user further shared details of the contract with the client.
“Payment conditions with the client are 30 days when we regularly manipulated their cargo, but due to problems with the fund client does not apply and asks for more time to pay fees. So my company decided to deduct 20% of my salary every month until we receive payment,” the user said.

It responds to the post and has shared their ideas to solve the problem while some convened the company.
One of the users commented: “It’s not surprising – literally millions of cargo companies and margins are super lean. I’m not sure how to help with your salary, but I would recommend finding another industry.”
Another user suggested: “Ask them in writing … Use it to take the necessary measure, where the appointment letter is the only document that defines the rule of deduction and discounts, unless there are… accidental policies cannot allow them to deduct if it communicates in writing and accept it!”
“You are an employee and not a partner. If the company earns Crores then I’m sure you won’t get any.
