The reports that the Ministry of Motor Vehicles (MVD) is considering the abolition of e-challans issued against the vehicles of the department were unfounded and misleading, Choraju, the Keral transport commissioner.
“We have heard that some social media platforms are underway that the MVD is considering canceling e-challans issued against vehicles. These are absolutely false and unfounded rumors created with the intention of damaging public interest.
E-chalans, as soon as released, cannot cancel anyone. The ministry has no legal authority to abolish e-challan once it is issued. Only the courts have the power to call them. This reputation is created with the intention of introducing citizens and making them less in accordance with traffic laws. It is harmful to road users’ safety, if the laws of motor vehicles are not observed by anyone, including the department drivers, MVD said in a statement.
