MVD fines ₹6.04 million on trucks for overloading in Ernakulam, Kerala
The Ernakulam Regional Transport Officer (Enforcement) wing imposed a total fine of Rs 6.04 lakh on trucks for overloading in a surprise night check held on September 7.
Four special squads, which conducted checks at Muvattupuzha, Koothattukulam, Perumbavoor and Angamaly, issued notices to 20 such vehicles. Squads led by Biju Issac, Enforcement RTO, found other violations including non-payment of vehicle tax, invalid permits and unlicensed drivers.
According to the release, the offending vehicles were penalized for using horns, unauthorized modifications, carrying dangerously protruding goods and displaying advertisements in violation of the rules.
The Department of Motor Vehicles (MVD) said that inspections will continue in the coming days. Strict action will be taken against those violating the rules.
