
Minister of Labor Keral V. Sivankutta on Monday accused the opposition of indulging in a conspiracy to intentionally create a conflict in the fishing village of Muthalapozhi.
Over the past few days, the coastal village has witnessed protests, while fishermen and trade unions demanded a resolution to block the mouth caused by the accumulation of sand.
In his statement, Mr Sivanku said there were planned steps to mistake fishermen. The decision to remove Písek from Muthalapozhi was adopted at a recent ministerial session, he said. He said that a decision was taken to avoid a situation where the accumulated sand prevents fishing.
“There is a conspiracy to create tensions in connection with fishing in Muthalapozhi. There are planned movements that are mistaken for fishermen,” he said.
Referring to the announcement of the Youth Congress, in order for a protest march to the lawmaker Chirayinkeezhu V. Sasi in this matter, Mr. Sivanka said that this step is “utter nonsense”.
He stated that the removal of sand was already proceeding using the currently available dredgers and movements of the Earth, he said that a large excavator from Kannura would reach a place across the sea by Thursday.
Flood risk
If the sandbar is not interrupted, there is a possibility of flooding in four or five Panchayats below the sea level, he said. “So there is an immediate need to reduce sandstone, to act against it is anti-context,” said Mr. Sivankutty.
The Government of the Union has already approved the Harbor Development project 177 Crore, said it added that the related procedures of the selection procedure were proceeding.
Mr Sivanku also stated that the removal of the collected sand is mandatory for the initiation of these development projects.
Fishermen’s protest
Local fishermen in Muthalapozhi blocked the government step of Kerala on Thursday to reduce the sandstone that is currently defending the mouth of the river in the harbor, a temporary solution designed for the problems faced by the inhabitants.
According to protesting fishermen, the accumulation of sand and ineffective dredging in the mouth, the port made it difficult for fishing, which for many led to a loss of livelihood.
This area became dangerous for fishermen while set out on the sea and after their return. Muthalapozhi is often in the news, recently and in the past, because of several accidents of fishing ships.

The center recently approved the long -awaited comprehensive plan for the development of the fishing port.
