Hundreds of members of the Muslim community in Shivamogg took a protest march in the city and against the WAQF 2025 change law.
Demonstrators holding the national flags began march from Waqf Bhavan and reached the deputy commissioner. On the shore they lifted the slogans – they intervened Waqf and saved the institute. They gathered in front of the office where they organized a protest meeting. The protest was convened by the Council for Personal Right for Personal Legal Law.
Shahul Hameed, the religious leader of the community, addressed the protesters, said the protest was held against the turn of the center. BJP has decided on the people of one particular religion for years. “We are all Indians and we have the same rights under the Constitution,” he said.
Changes to the WAQF law were against the interests of Muslims. “Changes allow non -Muslims in the WAQF committees. However, this is not allowed in any committees with respect to the real estate of other religions. The changes should be downloaded,” he demanded.
The meeting was attended by Balkhees Banu, MLC, Sudhir Kumar Murolli, Congress spokesman and more. The organizers later submitted a memorandum representatives of the Commissioner Gurudatt Hegde.
The District Administration has deployed the police all over the city to avoid any undesirable incident during the protest. Police limited vehicles on the roads where a protest march took place. The situation was followed by the superintendent of the police GK Mithun Kumar and other police officers.
