A team of political leaders, religious personalities, representatives of socio-economic groups under the auspices of the joint Action Committee (JAC), Telangana and Andhra Pradesh is ready to announce what they described as an extensive protest against the recently approved WAQF legislation.
According to Mushtaq Mallik, the wearer of the JAC office, a proposed demonstration entitled Telangana March will soon be officially announced in the coming days.
Jac, consisting of leaders such as AMJEJE KHAN of Majlis Bachao Tehreek, as well as politicians from Congress and Bharat Rashtra Samithi, include members of Muslim communities across sectarian and ideological lines, including Shia Cleric Maulan Taqi Scholars. The body described the proposed changes to the WAQF law as “attack on the identity and culture of Muslims in India”.
Mallik, who addressed the media, said, “We decided that as long as the legislation returns, Muslims must not be silent. It’s time not to sit comfortably at home.” He added that the Committee would appeal to All India Muslim Personal Law Board to organize a coordinated national demonstration against the bill.
JAC issued a horny call for other Muslim spiritual, legal brotherhood, members of the business community and persons associated with educational institutions and called on them to participate in mobilization.
The Committee emphasized the importance of resistance and stated that the aspects of Indian history have seen many similar demonstrations. Given the consequences that may have proposed changes to religious and cultural institutions such as mosques, Madrassas, Imambadas and Dargahs, they pointed out that the protest was paramount.
The panel that drew parallels with a million march organized by JAC against the Citizenship (CAA) law, the National Population Register (NPR) and the National Citizens’ Register (NRC), said that the announced demonstration should soon be drawn.
At a recent meeting, speakers stressed that the draft WAQF, if adopted in its current form, could allow increased government interference with real estate affairs as a Muslim foundation.
The Committee, as stated, is currently formed to be involved in the logistics and ways of the upcoming demonstrations. A formal announcement is soon expected.
