State Karnataka Dr. Gangubai Hangal Music and Performing Arts University celebrated on Wednesday, Day 16. Day of the Foundation with Cultural Pannitus and honors to important artists.
The celebrations included three well -known artists – BV Rajaram, Ca Sridhar and Syed Sallauddin Pasha – awarded for their contributions to the field of Music Arts.
Mr. Rajaram is a well -known theater personality and artist. Mr. Sridhar, is a member of the University College of Fine Arts Faculty and a recognized scholar in the Karnatic Music, which also regulates the encyclopedia in music published by the University of Mysore. Mr. Pasha is known for his work on the way to adapt Bharatnatyam for wheelchair artists and for taking over her productions to international stages every year.
Felicitation doubled as a tribute to teachers, because all three are gurus, who, according to the organizers, devoted themselves to the training of the next generation of artists.
The celebrations also represented live performances by university students and its associated institutions and fulfilled the day with music and dance, which reflected the spirit of an institution founded 16 years ago in the name of the legendary singer Gangubai Hangal. In total, there were 10 cultural events organized by students and groups that are part of the affiliate institutions.
Nagesh Bettakote, vice -chairman of the university, said that an exclusive university for music and art was needed, and it was appropriate for the government to be founded in Mysur, which is considered to be the cultural capital of the state.
Mr. Bettakote said that the university classes moved to their new campus in Sardar Vallabhai Patel Nagar, where 12 cutirs were built to replicate the classrooms in the tradition of “Guru-Shishya”.
He said that the university, which offers a wide range of courses in music and theater art, also performs juniors, seniors and Vidwat and expanded their footprint through memorandum understanding with various institutions offering performing courses. From this year, an online exam for foreign music students will be carried out to help educate talent.
