“I have come with great caution,” I have lived in Bengalur in Karnatak, who lives in Karnataka in Bengalur in the last 5 years.
In the now viral post, the man arrested the common belief in moving to Bengalur and shared a relatively simple hack survival to win over the locals.
Mumbaikar said, “I am originally from bombai, born and raised in the Maharashtric Household. About five years ago I moved to Bengalur to work and I will be honest, I came up with great caution.”
The man said before he moved, he still heard the usual: “Bengaluru Traffic will be mad.” “Cars and cabin are a nightmare.” “The locals don’t like outsiders, especially if you don’t speak Kannada.”
To his surprise, however, Mumbaikar said that his real experience is “the opposite”.
“Whether I was driving my own car or took cars and cabins, I hardly faced any problems. People were respectful, fair and often more helpful than I expected. I was prepared for hostility, but what I got was patient,” he wrote.

What changed: his hack of his survival
Mumbaikar said that his “efforts” to learn the basic Cannada made “the biggest difference”.
“I think the biggest difference is efforts. I started learning cannad just basic things, greetings, instructions, little speech. Even if it spoils, people value it,” he said.
“They smile, help and correct me.
This comes at a time when many hostilities are reported from Bengalur for foreigners for not knowing Cannada.
“This city feels that it reflects what you bring to it. I never act like a tourist or outsider, I just tried to belong and Bengaluru met me halfway,” the man said.
Mumbaikar also noted that others could have different experiences. “But I personally felt nothing but welcome. I am interested: Is it possible that the city treats you, how do you treat the city?” he asked.

This is how Netizens reacted:
Netizens welcomed the post and said that Bangalore meets people halfway.
“Part of the hostility is blown.
Another one added, “He never met people in Bangalore.”
“The sentiment that Bangalores met them halfway is objectively true imo,” the user said. “The kind of claim that I have seen that some Hindi speakers have like” no, I will only speak Hindi “, he just wasn’t there with the locals before. Even people who know that Kannada will make an effort to speak English and even Hindi,” the user added.
However, several skeptical users asked, “5 years in Bangalore and have never long been too long to do?”
