IN Bombay, where local trains are considered a lifeline, the first new non-air-conditioned suburban train equipped with ‘automatic door closing’ has arrived at the Kurla shed. Designed for narrow doors, this local train represents a modernization of the city’s rail plan.
“Digger is being introduced as a step to enhance passenger safety, convenience and modernize suburban services in Mumbai,” a Central Railway spokesperson said.
