Mumbai Indians have received a timely boost ahead of their Indian Premier League 2026 match against Chennai Super Kings on Thursday, April 23 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. As reported by Cricbuzz, Will Jacks has now joined the team and was spotted training with his teammates.
The 27-year-old opted for a short break after an intense international match. He featured in four of England’s five Tests during The Ashes before switching to white-ball cricket for the tour of Sri Lanka and the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. Jacks was among England’s best players at the tournament, despite his semi-final exit against India, winning four man-of-the-match awards.
He underlined his all-round value during the World Cup, amassing 226 runs and taking nine wickets as England progressed to the last four, a return which highlighted his growing influence as a multi-dimensional T20 asset.
His arrival in Mumbai was highly anticipated by both the franchise and its supporters. However, Jacks asked for a short rest before joining, following his busy international schedule.
MI SNAP PROH SERIES
Mumbai planned a dramatic turnaround on Mondaysnapped a four-match losing streak with an impressive 99-run victory over Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The revival was built on a complete team effort, led by Tilak Varma’s sensational unbeaten 101 from just 45 balls that powered MI to an impressive 199 for five.
Varma’s late surge proved decisive as he smashed 82 runs off his last 23 deliveries to turn the tide and guide MI to a comprehensive match win. The bowlers then emphatically sealed their comeback, bundling GT for just 100 in 15.5 overs. Left-arm pacer Ashwani Kumar played with four wickets while Jasprit Bumrah claimed his first wicket of IPL 2026 by dismissing Sai Sudharsan.
With the win, MI climbed from 10th to seventh in the table and also improved their net run rate to +0.067.
