It was a day to forget for India’s pace duo Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh as they lost a wicket and ran out during the second T20I against South Africa on Thursday, December 11. Bumrah conceded 45 runs from his four overs, his joint third-worst performance with the ball, while Arshdeep did not enjoy the comfort of home.
India won the toss and opted to field at Mullanpur where the dew soon appeared. The first two overs from Arshdeep and Bumrah posed questions to the batsmen but then they started to lose control as the conditions became ideal for batting. Arshdeep had a horror performance in the 11th over when he conceded seven wides, much to the ire of Indian coach Gautam Gambhir.
India vs. South Africa 2nd T20I Update
Arshdeep started with eight runs in his first over and followed it up with 12 runs in his second as Quinton de Kock started to loosen his hands. His third cost 18 runs, including seven wides, and finished with 16 in the 19th over.
Bumrah started with just two runs from his first over but was hit for six in his second by De Kock and Reeza Hendricks as 16 runs came out. The star pacer began to bowl a lot of full tosses, perhaps because the ball was difficult to grip when the dew appeared.
Bumrah came on for the 18th and 20th overs and dropped 15 and 18 as South Africa reached 213 for four in the first innings.
