Chennai Super Kings legend MS Dhoni shook a leg with Dwayne Brave at the ROAR 2026 event organized by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk on Sunday. Bravo, who currently mentors fellow Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), was among the CSK stalwarts who were invited to the event.
In a video that went viral on social media, Bravo performed his famous song ‘Champion’ in front of a packed crowd with the current CSK team as the front row audience. Bravo saw Dhoni in front and walked up to his former captain and embraced as the duo shook a leg to the beats of the song.
While Dhoni and Bravo were enjoying their moment, the rest of the CSK team was clapping and enjoying the same. The video instantly went viral with fans commenting “He misses Bravo’s celebrations and Dhoni’s smiles.” Another user wrote: “Dhurandhar.”
The two-time T20 World Cup winner, one of the most sought-after all-rounders of his time, spent most of his IPL career with CSK. After playing for Mumbai Indians in the first three seasons, Bravo joined CSK in 2011 and retired with the same franchise. He played for Gujarat Lions for one season when CSK was banned from IPL.
For CSK, Bravo played 116 matches in the IPL, taking 140 wickets and scoring 1004 runs. He is also the second highest wicket taker for CSK. Meanwhile, Dhoni was in a jovial mood as he shared great camaraderie with all his players who have now bid farewell to the game.
Will IPL 2026 be Dhoni’s last MS?
While it is still unclear whether IPL 2026 could be Dhoni’s last on the cricket field, but the recruitment of Sanju Samson certainly gives a hint to these rumours. Earlier, CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan confirmed to NDTV that Dhoni will play in IPL 2026. “Dhoni will play,” Viswanathan said.
The 44-year-old Dhoni is one of only four active players to have appeared in every edition of the IPL, along with Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Manish Pandey. During his IPL career, Dhoni has scored 5,439 runs in 278 matches at an average of 38 with a success rate of 137, which ranks him sixth in the list of highest run-scorers in the history of the league.
The five-time champions will begin their 2026 IPL season against Rajasthan Royals in Guwahati on March 30. After the Rajasthan match, CSK will face Punjab Kings on April 3. CSK will then take on defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru on April 5 and Delhi Capitals on April 11.
