MS Dhoni drops big hint on IPL future, decision expected by December

CSK star MS Dhoni has probably given the clearest hint that he will play in the next IPL season. Dhoni said he is ready to take a call on his future by December this year. Dhoni missed the entire season last year due to a calf problem as Chennai missed out on qualifying for the IPL 2026 playoffs. the future of the former Indian captain and if he will continue to play.

Speaking at a health event in Bengaluru, the question of his future again came to the fore. In his usual witty way, Dhoni said that he will have to pass the test and see if he is able to deliver one more season in CSK colours.

“Doku, I will have to undergo a test. You will have to give me a report and then by December I will have to see, you know how strong I am to play one more season,” Dhoni said as quoted by ANI.

The former CSK captain has put all the pressure on the doctors, saying that they will be the ones to ensure that he is fit to undergo the rigors of the IPL for one more year.

“And if I’m not, then, you know, you’re going to have to make sure you’re doing everything right with me and make sure this old vintage vehicle runs well on the road. So all the pressure is on them.”

CSK HOPE to see DHONI IN IPL 2027

CSK remains hopeful that Dhoni will play there in IPL 2027. CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan said the decision was left in the hands of the star keeper but there is a chance he will return to the yellow franchise.

“It’s a question you have to ask him. I have to ask him too. He will inform us of his decision when he comes to Chennai. I feel the chances of him continuing to play for CSK are there. He’s still a player you know,” said Kasi Viswanathan.

After missing out on the play-offs last season, Chennai underwent a reshuffle of their backroom with Stephen Fleming leaving his role as head coach and Zaheer Khan taking over.
