The non -maintenance has prepared a way for Mahendra Singh Dhoni to return as a captain for the rest of the season, confirmed CSK head coach Stephen Fleming.

“We have a free player, Mrs. Dhoni, who will be taken over by the captain for the rest of the IPL,” Fleming Mediaper said before a fall clash with Kalkata Knight.
Dhoni, CSK captain from 2008 to 2023 and led them to five IPL titles, handed over the reins of Gaikwad before the season 2024.

“Life is so unfair,” Bravo replied before sharing a hug with Ravindra Jadeja, then shook his hands with Dhoni.

Before the season 2025, however, Bravo divided with the CSK coaching settings and took over the role of a mentor with Kalkata Knight Riders.
When Gaikwad was led, CSK now faces a dilemma of the selection. Rahul Tripathi could return to the highest order, although his form was far from convincing.
In the middle order, the Deepak Hooda campaign is likely to be a seasoned campaign, while the team could also try to accommodate the fresh energy of the young Delhi Batst Vansh Bedi, known for their abilities to hit late shifts.
CSK is also entitled to GAIKWAD replacement, with a teenager Mumbai Ayush Mhatre for the slot.
