Visakhapatnam MP M. Sribharat on Monday inaugurated the infrastructure work worth ₹40,000 at the Zilla Parishad High School in Sunil Sharma Colony, Chinnagadili, carried out under the Members of Parliament Local Development Program (MPLADS).
The works include three additional classrooms, a multi-purpose hall, safety grills, ground leveling, RO potable water shelter, ceiling fans, LED lighting and other amenities aimed at providing a safer and more conducive learning environment.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Sribharat said that investment in education infrastructure is an investment in the nation’s future and that MPLADS funds should be used to create permanent assets with long-term social benefits. He said education, health, sports infrastructure and libraries deserve priority as they directly contribute to nation building.
He recalled that the school had previously struggled with lack of classrooms and adequate security infrastructure and said the new facilities would enhance the learning experience of students. “We can build school buildings, but it is teachers who build students’ lives. Education should not be limited to good grades in exams. It must foster curiosity, critical thinking, self-confidence and the courage to express ideas fearlessly,” he said.
Mr. Sribharat appealed to the teachers, parents and students to protect the newly created infrastructure. The program was attended by District Education Officer N. Prem Kumar, Principal Geetha Devi, teachers, students, parents and local residents.
