
Kozhikode MP MK Raghavan demanded that the Union government to seize local authorities by bringing laws that would allow them to be immediate steps concerning the questions related to vicious dogs, given the public security.
He presented the question of growing cases of stray dog attacks in Lok Sabha and pointed out that more than 2.5 lakh people were bitten in 2024 in 2024 and that the public was panic due to recurrent deaths. The number of stray dogs increases mainly because of inefficient sterilization drives, non -scientific waste management and legal complications that prevented local authorities immediate steps, he said.
Mr. Raghavan pointed out that the good living conditions of animals and public security should be balanced and that local bodies were concerned about limited resources.
He proposed that the drives and vaccination units of dog sterilization and that better equipment for waste management should be intensified. He also said that a special effort was needed to capture dogs that often avoided capture to be sterilized.
