To draw attention to the capital’s worsening air pollution, Congress MP Peddapalli Gaddam Vamsi Krishna came to Parliament on an electric bike he designed and made. This gesture was aimed at highlighting the need to adopt eco-friendly modes of transport.
Stating that vehicular emissions are a major contributor to rising air pollution in Delhi, the lawmaker said wider use of electric vehicles could significantly reduce carbon emissions and reduce dependence on fossil fuels. According to him, public representatives should lead by example and he called on citizens to actively participate in environmental protection.
By riding a self-made electric bike to Parliament, Mr. Vamsi Krishna also highlighted the importance of promoting indigenous technology, innovation and technical skills among the youth. His initiative sparked a debate among political circles and the public.
