On Friday and Saturday, bus stations cracked at their seams with passengers for Rakhi. This, along with a long weekend, led to a sharp increase in the number of travelers, with many queues on board buses to their respective destinations. Most travelers were women.
Rush passengers witnessed at the Jubilee Bus Station, which also led to traffic growth in the passages around this facility. There were a large number of people waiting for buses on board in Space and LB Nagar, and other loading points marked with Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC).
According to PV Munishekar, Executive Director (Operation), this year was more than the previous year, as well as the number of special buses.
“So far, today (August 9) we had around 60 passengers of Lakh.
The number of RTC passengers was converted on 8 August, it cost approximately 58 Lakhs, he added.
The movement of passengers was mostly towards North Telangana and the compound districts of Nalgonda and Mahabubnagar, he said.
While 2,200 buses were deployed by 16:00 to 16:00, TGSRTC officials said that this number is expected to increase to at least 3,000 towards dusk.
The number of passengers returning to their homes will probably start on Sunday afternoon. The arrangements were also adopted for solving this demand. For this exercise, a reasonable number of buses have been set aside and if it is low on certain routes, buses will be moved to routes where there is higher occupancy.
Meanwhile, TGSRTC management issued a statement that an increase in fares up to 1.5 times regular fares will only be applicable on special buses, not on regular buses.
This step is in line with Go that allows practice. This revised fare is temporary and it would only apply until August 11. However, some passengers reported a long waiting time at bus stations and stressed that due to the large volume of passengers, there was a confusion about boarding buses.
