Representative of the Commissioner Kumar said that scientific survey will be carried out by a horticultural department in areas where coconut farms are affected by a black -headed caterpillar and protein contamination in the Mandya district.
Dr. On Monday, Kumar spoke at a Mandyi meeting on Monday and said that coconut was the main crop in the district and covers 74,731 hectares. Maddur, Kr Pet and Nagamangala are among the talos with the highest area under coconut growing. During the summer, the prevailing contamination of the caterpillar with the black head and the infestation of the protein, while Maddur Taluk is the worst this time, he said.
The Commissioner Representative stated that it was planned to conduct a survey in 1,428 villages and explore more than 3,01,822 coconut trees. He added that up to 200 units were named and trained.
Dr. Kumar urged farmers to work with reconnaissance teams and provide accurate information. The Gardening Department officials also visit the field to create awareness of preventive and control measures to deal with the threat of pests, the deputy commissioner added.
