More than 61 Lakh Bihar voters do not have to appear in the new design election roles of the state to be published on August 1.
This includes the seven lamps of people who have previously submitted their list for enumerations within the Special Intensive Revision process (Sir), a day before the date of 25 July, according to data on the Electoral Commission of India published on Thursday (July 24, 2025). There are also 21.6 Lakh deceased voters, 31.5 lakh people who have permanently moved from the state, seven lamps who have entered more than one place, and one lakh that are “inexplicable”, ECI said.
The vote body stated in its statement that the list of 7.21 voters of CRORE (91.32%) was adopted and digitized. All their names will be included in the election role. The remaining forms are also digitized, along with the reports from the stall levels (BLOs) and the stand agents at the level of the booth (Bla), to make their verification easier to verify them during claims and objections.
According to election roles 2025, which are now revised through Sir, Bihar had 7 89,69 844 voters.
Names can be included in September
According to the SIR Order, a copy of all 12 main political parties in the state will be provided after the publication of the new election role. The role design will also be available on the ECI website.
The lists of voters at the level of stands who did not fulfill their forms, deceased voters and voters who have permanently migrated were already shared with all political parties to point out any mistakes.
Each voter or any political party may be entitled to any missing names or object in the event of a poor incorporation in September 1. Including names in the election role will continue until 1 September.
“Cannot be allowed to vote for unfit people”
In the face of opposition attacks against the Sir process, the main election commissioner Gyanesh Kumar asked if ECI should allow the names of the dead and those who migrated to other places to be included in the voters’ list.
Allow unfit to vote, first in Bihar and later throughout the country, is against the constitution, Kumar said. “To these questions, one day, all of us and all citizens of India will have to think deeply and cross political ideologies,” he added, defending Sir.
The opposition claimed that this step would be eliminated by eligible citizens. Parliament remained stopped on Thursday.
