
More than 500 works related to cleaning, improving and increasing the depth of channels and drains are planned in Thiruvananthapuram City in the framework of monsoon cleaning of corporation, irrigation department and public works department.
While the company’s hygienists will take care of a good number of drains, a smaller and main irrigation department is mostly engaged in channels.
According to officials of the corporation, the civic body assigned 1.25 ₹ Lakh to the department for cleaning drainage in the initial phase.
Intermittent cleaning

A large amount of waste flowing through the channel during the rain is used to capture the shutter bridge, causing floods in the area.
