Farmers in Gujarat numbering ₹ 49.31 crore will receive ₹ 986 crore under the 21st installment of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) released nationwide by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Coimbatore on Wednesday (Nov 19, 2025). The transfer is part of ₹18,000 crore disbursed to more than nine million farmers across the country.
The Prime Minister’s speech was telecast live across Gujarat, including a state-level event in Gandhinagar, where Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Agriculture Minister Jitu Vaghani distributed letters of approval for over ₹11.68 lakh agricultural assistance schemes.
Mr Patel said the “twin-engine government” was quick to announce a ₹10,000-crore rescue package to help farmers recover from losses caused by the recent unseasonal and heavy rainfall. He said improved irrigation and near-universal daily power supply, which now reaches more than 98% of farmers, has transformed the state’s agriculture sector.
Speaking about the Centre’s focus on environmental sustainability, Mr Patel said the Prime Minister had consistently advocated for greater green cover and promoted natural farming. He warned that chemical-intensive practices harm soil health and people’s well-being. “Natural agriculture is the agriculture of the future,” he said, calling for widespread adoption to ensure long-term soil fertility and healthier crops.
He also pointed to the Krishi Mahotsav, launched in Gujarat in 2005 during Mr. Modi’s tenure as chief minister, as a key initiative that brought scientific advice directly to farmers’ fields and strengthened the “lab to ground” model.
Agriculture Minister Mr. Vaghani said that nearly three thousand farmers in Gujarat have joined the live telecast through Krishi Vigyan Kendras, gram panchayats, APMCs and other centres. He listed measures like mechanization, nanotechnology, crop protection, natural farming and zero-budget farming as part of the state’s efforts to increase productivity while reducing input costs.
He added that MSP procurement remained a key safety net for farmers, noting that more than one million metric tonnes of groundnut, amounting to over ₹1,100 crore, had already been procured from 293 centers in the state.
Additional Principal Secretary (Agriculture) Dr. Anju Sharma said government programs now cover the entire agricultural cycle from seeds and fertilizers to ancillary support and operations of SMEs. She said the improved i-Khedut Portal 2.0 helps farmers apply for various benefits smoothly.
During the programme, Prime Minister Modi interacted with farmers from various states, while in Gandhinagar, 15 beneficiaries were given assistance under agriculture and horticulture schemes.
