The draft electoral roll of Cuddalore district released on Friday after a special intensive review (SIR) indicated that names of around 2.46 lakh voters were deleted due to death, transfer/absence, duplication and non-submission of census form for various reasons.
After the release of the draft electoral rolls, Sibi District Electoral Officer and Collector Adhithya Senthil Kumar said that a total of 19,46,759 thousand voters (9,60,645 male, 9,85,832 female and 282 others) have found place in the draft list.
As many as 1,46,612 voters were identified as shifted/absent during the enumeration, 88,972 were identified as dead and 10,844 voters were found to have enrolled at multiple locations.
The maximum number of deleted voters are in Bhuvanagiri (35,015), Cuddalore (33,534) and Vriddhachalam (31,824). The least number of deletions occurred in Thittagudi (Reserved) 21,975, Panruti (22,741) and Kurunjipadi (24,941).
The deletion was done after field-level verification and cross-checking with booth-level political party agents.
Genuine voters will be added to the electoral rolls during the next phase of the SIR application and objection period, which began on December 19 and will continue until January 18. The final lists will be released on February 17, the collector said.

A total of 11,60,607 voters were registered in the electoral roll of Kallakurichi district as on October 27 this year before the SIR exercise began. Of these, 10,76,278 names figured in the draft voter list and 84,329 voters were dropped due to absenteeism, transfer, dead and duplicate, district election officer and collector MS Prasanth said.
In Villupuram district, a total of 15,44,625 voters (7,64,377 males, 7,80,042 females and 206 others) found their names in the nomination lists.
