In a statement on Tuesday (March 31, 2026), the Uttar Pradesh government said 17,841 factories have been registered during nine years of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) regime, describing it as an industrial revolution with more than 16 million people gaining employment; the government added that it also indicates socio-economic transformation.
“Over the past nine years, the Yogi government has created a new identity for Uttar Pradesh in the field of industrial development. As a result of good governance, transparent policies and visionary leadership under the Yogi government, 17,841 new factories have been registered in the state since April 2017 till date,” an official statement said.
The government added that since India’s independence in 1947 till March 2017, nearly 70 years, only 14,178 factories were registered in the state. At present, the total number of registered plants in the state has reached 32,019. “The Yogi government has focused on ease of doing business, creating an investor-friendly environment and ensuring transparent procedures. To attract investors, facilities like single window system, online clearance, land banks, improved law and order and strong infrastructure have been developed. As a result, the confidence of both domestic and international investors has increased in Uttar Pradesh,” the statement added.
“Currently, 16,53,179 people are employed in factories registered after April 2017. Of these, 1,529,907 are men and 1,23,272 are women. in the Bundelkhand region. These figures indicate that the Yogi government has promoted industrial growth in all regions while addressing regional imbalances and creating employment opportunities at the local level. These factories have accelerated both industrial development, thus creating jobs in the state.
The government further informed that 14,412 factories in the state employ up to 100 workers, while 3,213 factories employ between 101 and 1,000 workers. Similarly, 118 large factories employ more than 1,000 workers each.
