Several acres of open space behind the IFCO Chowk metro station in sector 29, gurigram, rare view in the rapid urbanizing Millennium City, is an ideal place for parking, sports and recreational activities and learning.
Neelam, 36 years old, a multinational employee of the company, accompanied by her husband, regularly comes to this country to learn driving. But to her surprise, the ground surface of the Earth has decreased significantly in the last few days, and there have been piles of debris all around.
“I have noticed that the tractors turning off in daylight. The frequency has increased in the last few days. It is visible for everyone, but there was no action against this obvious illegal dumping,” she complained.
The soil of the sector 29 is not alone. Together with the Grrabogram-Faridabad Road near Khushboo Chowk, sector 26 and Earth near the village of Medawas, sector 64.
Dinesh Kumar, in charge of killing a waste processing plant from Basia Construction and Demolition (C&D), said the total wreckage in these three places could be around 25 lakh tons. There are also several smaller illegal sites of several hundred tons of such waste across the boundaries of the urban corporation of the Grrabogram (MCG), said Kumar, adding that approximately two lacHs of waste is illegally thrown out on the Grrabogram Metropolitan Authority.
Bad recycling
The lonely C&D processing plant in the city, operated since 2019, was working on about 14 Lakh tons of routin on average 580 tons per day, less than even half of its daily capacity of 1,600 tonnes.
The waste factory received only 27,000 tons of C&D waste from mass generators in the first four years, said that Mr. Kumar has added that in recent years approximately 2,000 tonnes of such waste have been caused daily, which have come to several large housing, commercial and infrastructure projects in recent years. Accuses the situation of lack of recovery by MCG.
“It is expected that approximately 50 kg of C&C waste will be generated for a square meter of construction and a bulk generator should pay us for collecting, transport and processing, but compliance is not only missing not only a part of large private developers, but even suppliers working for government agencies such as GMDA and public work and illegal waste that is misleading. It is that it is that it is a contractual and illegal price, and illegal foundation, and illegal Pless.
Illegal dumping is not only unsightly and affects the visual attraction of the area, but also leads to contamination of soil and water, air pollution, exhaustion of resources and clogging of rainwater drainage, resulting in infestation.

‘Zero call’
Although a slight improvement has been observed in the situation since last year, 42 bulk generators have been supplied to Basia by 1.2 Lakh tons and this year the number increased to 73, Mr. Kumar said that the line to collect the debris has accepted almost “zero” calls.
Unlike Delhi, materials made of C&D waste, such as crushed concrete, sand and asphalt, hardly use government agencies and developers for building projects in Haryana. “According to the rules, 10-20% of C&D materials must be incorporated into municipal and government contracts, subject to quality control. It remains only on paper as far as Haryana is concerned,” said Mr. Kumar.
He added that the MCG was supposed to be cleaned around 10 GBP Crore in excellent fees for collecting debris from all over the city and transporting and processing. “According to the mandate, the company can run the plant a day to collect only 300 tonnes of C&D waste daily
Commissioner MCG Pradeep Dahiya, who took over the reins of the municipal authority two months ago, admitted that illegal dumping C&D was “uncontrollable” and was a problem not only for the civic body but also for the political class.
Measures taken
Mr. Dahiya said Hindu that the proposal to increase the C&D race from the current 300 tons to 450 tons and the deployment of former service workers were considered to strengthen the recovery against illegal dumping, especially at night.
“We also talked to the C&D race officials to achieve an agreement on the collection and processing of waste illegally released around the city, especially sector 29, Khushboo Chowk and sector 10,” he said.
The Commissioner added that the accusation of suppliers for government agencies illegally interprets C&D waste with “investigation” waste, adding that MCG 475 Challans have issued an illegal dumping with debris on the right to enforce law.
