The Karnatak Law Society will be organizing the 16th MK Nambyar Memorial National Level Moot Court Competition 2026 at KLS Raja Lakhamagouda Law College in Belagavi from Friday to Sunday.
More than 100 participants from nine states will compete for a total prize money of ₹1.35 lakh, debating the pros and cons of government intervention in ensuring the right to health.
“The participating 30 teams include teams from National Law Schools in various cities,” society secretary SV Ganachari and college board chairman RS Mutalik told reporters on Thursday.
“Around 50 senior lawyers and academics from the High Court and District Court will participate as judges and evaluate the contestants. Former Attorney General of India KK Venugopal is the chief patron of the competition. Mr. Venugopal, who studied at the college, has established an annual scholarship for the college to help it run the moot court event. Prizes will be awarded to the best male individuals and best female teams and best in various categories. by Advocate Ashok N. Potdara,” said Mr. Mutalik.
Karnataka High Court Justice Jyothi M. will inaugurate the function at 5.30 pm on Friday.
Society President Pradeep S. Sawkar, Secretaries and Members will be present. The closing ceremony will be held on Sunday at 4:30 pm Supreme Court Justice Vijayakumar A. Patil will address the convocation. He will also act as a judge for the final rounds of the moot court competition. The office bearers of the society will be present, Mr. Ganachari said.
During the inauguration, the guests will felicitate the eight students of the college who passed all the three rounds of examinations and were selected for the posts of Civil Judges Shreya Utture, Priyanka Rajgolkar, Vijay Kumar Budri, Nagaraj Talwar, Halyalappa, Mounesh Badiger, Naveen Khoparde and Jagadish Kittur.
“Compared to all law colleges in the state, we have produced the highest number of successful candidates in this examination this year,” said Principal AH Hawaldar.
Moot court coordinator Ashwini Parab, faculty member Manjunath Kale, student coordinator Sunidhi Joshi and others were present at the press conference.
