
As part of the world’s world awareness of breast cancer, Kannur Malabar Cancer Carer Society launched a monthly campaign with programs of increasing awareness and screening camps in the districts of Kannur, Karagod, Kozhikode and Wayanad, starting on October 1.
This initiative is part of the Brigade Cancer Cancer Brigade project, which was launched in 2017 in order to reduce the growing incidence and mortality of breast cancer in Kerala, said D. Krishnanath Pai, President of Malabar Cancer Care Society, Kannur. He added that this year’s campaign will include sessions of awareness of villages and professional screening camps offering mammograms, ultrasound and FNAC tests through the latest Sanjeevani Mobile Tele-on Net.
Camps are organized in cooperation with Lions, Rotary, Wise Men’s Club, palliative units, libraries and other voluntary organizations. Popular actress Manju Warrier continues as a project Ambassador who has become a model of community health intervention.
