Tamil Nadu | Southwest Monsoon intensifies; heavy rain is expected in more than 10 districts

As the upper air circulation and trough area persists, heavy rain is expected in more than ten districts around the Western Ghats region of Tamil Nadu from June 21, 2026.

The latest weather bulletin of the Regional Meteorological Center on Saturday (June 20, 2026) said that a significant shift in weather patterns is expected from Sunday (June 21, 2026), paving the way for the onset of the Southwest Monsoon.

Hence, heavy rain is likely at isolated places over Nilgiris, Erode, Salem, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Coimbatore, Theni, Dindigul and Kanyakumari districts and Ghat areas of Tirunelveli district.

The data further added that as a result of heavy rain, maximum temperatures are also expected to drop by four to five degrees Celsius in several areas of Tamil Nadu where rain was forecast. – PTI
