After a week’s intense charm over Kerala, the southwestern monsoon slipped into a quiet phase and provided relief to people with rain and impact wind.
Eight days of the monsoon gave the state an incredible 440 mm rain against a diameter of 81.5 mm, approximately 440% of excess rainfall, during that period. Normally, the state receives around 648 mm rain in June, the opening month of the southwest monsoon.
Since intense spells in the last eight days has contributed almost 70% of June precipitation. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) will not consider collisions as monsoon rain in May, although the monsoon stood before the current date of June 1. Instead, in May it would be ragged in front of Monsoon rain. Technically, after a flying start, June is still inadequate in the monsoon chart IMD this year.
Neetha K. Gopal, IMD Director, Thiruvananthapuram, Told the Hindu: “We are anticipating the Next Surge of Monsoon Rain Over Kerela after June 10, Altohough There Will Be Light to Moderate SCATTERED Jet Prevailing Over Kerala Dropped Significantly, and There Iso and Slight Change in the Direction of the Wind, Reducing the Rainfall Activity Over Kerala with a change of direction relieves the state of its orographic advantage.
Similarly, the performance of the monsoon in June does not affect the seasonal performance of the southwestern monsoon in Kerala. For example, with regard to precipitation data between 1901 and 2021, the June precipitation was insufficient for 27 years. Of these 27 years there was a monsoon shortage. This means that there is no correlation between the monthly performance of the monsoon and its seasonal performance, the experts said.
Data on collision for 1901-2010 (110 years) suggest that in many places in Wayanad, barraragod, idukki, Thrissur, Kozhikode, Ernakulam and Kannur, frequencies of heavy rainfall for a year grew, especially in stations such as Vydurg, Knulu, Knalmanum, Knalmanulam, Knalmanum, Knalmanulam, Knalmanum, Knalmanum, Knalmanum, Knalmanum, Knalmanum, KanSankulam, Knalungulam, Knalungulam, Knalmanum. Koyilandy, ALUVA and Irikur. The North Kerala district, underlining this trend, received more precipitation in the opening charm of the southwestern monsoon this year and the station as Kuttiyadi in Kozhikode received over 1,000 mm rain within eight days.
