A town planning officer and chief assistant of the Moinabad municipality were nabbed by Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths on Wednesday for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹75,000 to refrain from taking enforcement action against the construction.

The accused have been identified as Gundu Vani, a town planning officer, and Yelamoni Sudarshan, a former panchayat secretary of Moinabad gram panchayat, who is currently working on deputation as a senior assistant in the municipality.

According to the ACB, Vani allegedly demanded and accepted ₹75,000 from the complainant through Sudarshan in exchange for an official favour.

Officials of ACB City Range-2 caught two during a trap on September 30. A bribe amount of ₹75,000 was recovered from Sudarshan’s possession at his instance, the agency said.

The ACB alleged that the two officials acted improperly and dishonestly in the discharge of their duties to gain undue advantage.

Both are also produced before the Additional Special Judge for SPE and ACB at Nampally for judicial remand. The identity and other details of the complainant have been withheld for security reasons. Further investigation is underway.
