Super Giant Captain Mohun Bagan and defender of India Subhasish Bose were appointed AFF player in Bhubaneswar on May 2 in Bhubanesware and dug up the stationers such as Sunil CHRETRI – a recognition that means a noticeable shift in Indian football dynamics. Subhasish has become only the second defender in the last 11 years, who had requested an honor after the victory of Sandesh Jhingan in the 2020–21 season.
The All India (AIFF) Football Federation also awarded the goalkeeper I could Bagan Vishal Kaith, the title of the male goalkeeper of the year, underlining the defensive power that defined the sailors’ campaign of the triumphal Indian Super League (ISL). Subhasish posts spread far beyond just clean leaves – it was helpful at both ends of the field and counted six key targets during the season.
While Indian football has traditionally seen such awards dominated by attackers, the victory of Subhasish stressed that this year’s Isl was played by defenders of vital roles. I can see 15 clean leaves with Bagan’s evidence of their defensive fortress, which is a key factor in their winged title. Its recognition not only rewards personal perfection, but also signals wider recognition for the brilliance of Backline in Indian football.
Among the other winners was the head coach Jamshedpur FC Khalid Jamil named by the male coach of the year, while Soumya Guguloth of East Bengal FC claimed the title of the female player of the year. FC Goa Brison Fernandes’s midfielder won the most promising player of the year.
