Pakistan Cricket Board Chief Mohsin Naqvi Has Apologized to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Over the Chaotic Aftermath of the Asia Cup Final on Sunday, September 28. (ACC) Meeting, Following The Contrsial Scenes Where He Refused to Allow the Indian Team to Celebrate Their Victory With the Winner’s Trophy on Pole.
Sources revealed that Naqvi expressed regret BCCI and acknowledged that the situation should not escalate as it was after the final. On the day of the final after the Indian team refused to receive a trophy and medals directly from Naqvi, the head of ACC rejected them a traditional ceremony. Instead, he ordered ACC officials to completely remove the trophy and medals from the ground.
During the ACC meeting held on Tuesday, September 30, BCCi strongly condemned Naqvi’s behavior in the controversy of the trophy. Vice -President Bccci Rajeev Shukl, who took part in the meeting, stressed that the Asian Cup trophy belongs to ACC, not the Chief of PCB. He criticized Naqvi for taking the trophy and medals to his hotel room without proper handover.
Shukla insisted that the trophy must be formally handed over to the winning Indian team, led by Captain Suryakumar Yadav, and will remain in custody of ACC.
Previously, the Secretary of BCCi devil Saikia ridiculed the chief of ACC for his actions.
“We decided not to take the Asia Cup 2025 trophy by ACC, who became one of Pakistan leaders. This was a conscious decision,” Saikia said.
“This does not give him the right to take a trophy and medals with him. It’s extremely unfortunate and unsportsmanlike. We hope the trophy and medals will be returned to India as soon as possible,” he added.
Despite the fact that Naqvi had issued an apology, BCCI remained firmly in his attitude and refused to return the trophy to the Indian team. He said that if the Indian party wanted a trophy, the captain should personally visit the ACC office in Dubai to collect it.
BCCi quickly rejected this demand and questioned why the Indian captain would travel to Dubai to collect a trophy when it wasn’t mandatory at night.
The controversy also has tense cricket relations between the two countries and overshadows the Indian triumph in the field in Asia Cup 2025.
