Mohit Sharma has joined CSK as bowling coach

(Image: X/CSK) NEW DELHI: Former India bowler Mohit Sharma will join Zaheer Khan-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) support team as bowling coach from next season.CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan confirmed the development. “Mohit will join CSK as our new bowling coach. His name was recommended by our head coach Zaheer Khan. Mohit has been amazing with us as a player as well and we hope he will do a great job as bowling coach,” Viswanathan told TimesofIndia.com.“Another batch of coaching staff will also be recruited on the recommendation of Zaheer in the coming weeks,” he added.Mohit last played in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for Delhi Capitals, but before that he had two stints with CSK that spanned four seasons. He replaces Eric Simmons as bowling coach.The 38-year-old Mohit has played 120 matches in the IPL and has 134 wickets to his name. He had a second wind of sorts during his stint with Gujarat Titans, where he proved to be a consistent wicketkeeper for the side thanks to his versatility and accuracy. Sharma took 41 wickets in the two seasons he spent at GT. He also represented Punjab Kings from 2016 to 2018.The Haryana bowler announced his retirement from professional cricket in December last year.“It is with a full heart that I am announcing my retirement from all formats of cricket today. As for the IPL, 2014 was his best outing – winning the Purple Cap after taking 23 wickets – and he came in CSK colours.Mohit played 26 ODIs and eight T20Is for India and took 31 and six wickets.
