Rashtriya’s head Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Mohan Bhagwat on Thursday (July 24, 2025) organized a meeting with Muslim religious leaders in Delhi.
The meeting organized by Ahmed Ilyasi, the main Imam of All India Imam (AIIO), has seen the participation of approximately 60 spiritual Muslims, mosques of mosques and intellectuals from a minority community from all over the country. The discussion lasted more than three hours in Delhi in Haryana Bhawan, in which Mr. Bhagwat and Muslim leaders exchanged thoughts and ideas to support “municipal harmony” and “final hatred”.
Mr. Ilyasi, who described this as a unique initiative, said Hindu that in the coming days it is expected that another such meeting will follow.
“This meeting is unique because it happened in the year when the RSS celebrates its 100th anniversary and AIIO enters its 50th year. Our discussion was focused on the topics of municipal harmony and national interest. Both parties agreed to the fact that dialogue is the only way to clarify misunderstandings,” he said.
Mr. Ilyasi, who once called Mr. Bhagwat as “Rashtrapit”, said it was high time for communication channels to be set among all communities in India.
“At the meeting, we suggested that Imams and the Spiritual Mosque and Priests of Temples should start dialogue in their communities. This idea was welcomed by Mr. Bhagwat,” he added.
Over the past few years, the RSS chief has met several Muslim delegations, including a meeting of a closed door with a delegation led by the former main election commissioner Sy Quraishim in 2022.
In 2019, he also organized a meeting with Jamiat Ulama-E-Hind Maulan Syed Arshad Madani in the RSS office.
