Muhammad Salah urged Liverpool fans to celebrate the club’s summer signatures without not respecting the former players who helped secure the Premier League title last season.
The Egyptian wing responded to the account of fans on X (formerly Twitter) comparing the recent Liverpool Alexander Isak Arrivals and Florian Wirtz with former stars Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez. The account, which has more than 500,000 followers, has published along the title of graphics of two pairs of players: “Name a larger upgrade in football history.”
Salah, apparently unhappy with the proposal, replied, “And what about celebrating big signatures without not respecting the PL champions?”
Liverpool’s record window
Liverpool has invested significantly in the summer window and broke the transmission record three times to bring Hugo Ecitike of Eintracht Frankfurt, Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen and Isak from Newcastle United. Overall, the champion spent 482.9 million. However, the reconstruction also recorded big departures when Diaz moved to Bayern Munich, Nunez joined Al-Hilal and Trent Alexander-Arnold signature for Real Madrid.
Salah’s report served as a reminder of the contributions of those who left. Diaz, international Colombian, scored 41 goals in 148 performances after arrival from Porto in 2022. Last season under the new manager Arne Slot brought 20 Premier League – 13 goals and seven assists.
Meanwhile, Nunez tried to strengthen the guaranteed initial place after his movement of big money, but last season he still managed five league goals and three assists and played a role in the successful Liverpool title.
Liverpool has launched a new campaign strongly and won all three of its opening games, including a hard 1-0 victory over Arsenal in Anfield. New signatures are expected to be integrated gradually, because it seems that the slot will build on the success of last season.
After the international break Liverpool restores his campaign away to Burnley. When Salah emphasized respect for the past and the excitement for the future, the news from Anfield seems to be clear: Celebrate progress, but do not forget the players who have helped to allow it.
