
The Asian Games Silver Medalist Mohammed Afsal broke the seven -year 800m national record on Friday, while finished second at the Grand Prix Sae in Dubai.
29 -year -old Afsal threw 1 minute and 45.61 seconds to erase an earlier national record of 1: 45.65 with Jamson Johnson in 2018.
Afsal ended up behind Kenyan Nicholas Kiplagat, who closed 1: 45.38 to win the World Athletic Continental Tour Bronze competition for the police stage in Dubai.
However, he could not violate the automatic qualification period of the World Championship 2025 1.44.50.
Afsal won the silver at 800 m at the Asian Hangzhou Hangzhou with a time of 1: 48.43 s.
National record holder Animesh Kujur won a 200m race at 20.45 seconds. During the Federation Cup 2025, which set the previous national record 20.52, he created 20.40 seconds three years ago.
Borgohain finished fifth on Friday by timing 21.08s.
