BJP president Nitin Nabin on Wednesday (Oct 28, 2026) said Narendra Modi will return to the ramparts of the Red Fort on Independence Day as prime minister after winning the 2029 Lok Sabha elections, even if the Congress “breathes its last” under Rahul Gandhi.

Accompanied by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Delhi BJP President Harsh Malhotra and a large number of party workers, Mr. Nabin led BJP’s ‘Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao’ march in Chandni Chowk area, marching from Jain Lal Temple to Town Hall Chowk.

“Congress leaders are concerned about the SIR exercise to clean the electoral roll, but the BJP is determined to ensure that infiltrators are removed from it,” Mr Nabin said while addressing party workers.

Criticizing Rahul Gandhi and the Congress for opposing the Special Intensive Review (SIR) exercise in many states, Mr Nabin said, “It has nothing to do with the Constitution and his party only listens to what he or his family dictates.”

The BJP chief also claimed that PM Modi is not going anywhere and will return to the ramparts of the Red Fort after the 2029 Lok Sabha elections, where the Prime Minister’s Independence Day speech was held.

“The Congress is breathing its last for Rahul Gandhi. The way he is going, he will soon be the only worker left in the party,” Mr Nabin said.
