Bengaluru’s long waiting for the yellow line Namma Metro finally ended on Sunday, because Prime Minister Narendra Modi started a 19.15 km corridor and combined RV Road with Bommasandra. The Prime Minister also described Vande Bharat Express between Bengalur and Belagavi, along with two other Vande Bharat services that were launched practically.
The yellow line, the key reference of the metro connecting the urban IT hub in the electronic city, and is expected to significantly alleviate traffic jams in narrow places such as the intersection of silk records, was troubled by delay since construction in 2017. 2021. Long-term land acquisition, disruption caused by Covid-19 pandemies, and delay in the supply of rolling from the Chinese manufacturer CRRC Nanjing pushed the timeline by almost four years.
A wrapped schedule for the Prime Minister
Mr. Modi arrived at Bengalur on Sunday morning at the Airport Hal and then traveled by helicopter to Indian Air Force command in the city, where he was accepted by Governor Thaawwarchand Gehlot and Chief Minister Siddaraiaha. The first stop was the Krantivira Sangolli Rayanna (KSR) railway station in Majestice, where he called three Vande Bharat Express, KSR Bengaluru – Belagavi Service, Service Shri Mata Vaishno Katra – Aamritsar and Nagpur (Ajni), Sun Service.
After the event, the Prime Minister proceeded to the Ragigudd metro station to start the yellow line. There he labeled the inauguration service, tried QR code sales vending machines and joined the subway in the electronic city. In an interview with Hindus, Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) said the train was piloted by a female locomine pilot. “There were also schoolchildren, metro officials on board, and some of the public and Mr. Modi communicated with them during the journey,” said the official, adding a commercial operation that starts from Monday.
At the end of his ride, the Metro to the Infosys Foundation Konappana Agrahara Metro Station moved to the IIIT auditorium in Electronics City Phase 1.
Phase 3 to extend the network to 222 km
Stage 3 will be fully increased and is planned to serve insufficiently operated areas along the Magadi Road and the western part of the outer circular road (orr). After completion in 2029, it is assumed that it will adapt to 7.85 Lakh daily commuting and, according to BMRCL officials, will expand the network of Bengalur metro to 222.2 km. The project cleaned all mandatory obstacles and in August 2024 received the approval of the Union’s cabinet.
Political Slugfest before starting start
Inauguration has also become the phase of political One-upmanship. At Metro Ragigudd, supporters of the slogans congress raised in favor of the Deputy Minister of DK Shivakumar.
The clock before the inauguration accused Mr. Shivakumar the central government led by the BJP of contributing only 20% to the cost of the yellow line and claiming that the state government carried the remaining 80%. In some cases he said that the post of the center was up to 11%.
When he talked to reporters, he urged the Prime Minister to sanction at least 1 lakh crore for the development of Bengalur and to say that the state government had funded the entire land acquisition, although the center was expected to share 50% of the costs. “Although Bengaluru is the second highest tax city in the country, the grants we receive are minimal,” he said, adding that Ahmedabad receives a 20% share of tax allocations compared to 10% Bengalur. “We should be treated as other capitals and considered next to the national capital.”
Mr. Shivakumar was also criticized by BJP deputies from Karnatak and claimed that he had not secured meaningful grants for the state. “Publication on X and discovery in photographs is not a success. BJP deputies should focus on bringing funds instead of playing politics,” he said.
A vital corridor
The yellow line, which was built at the price of 7 610 Crore, adds 16 stations to the Namma Metro network and extends the operating length to 96 km. The fully elevated line includes the first technology of trains without a driver, although services are originally operated by Loco pilots.
BMRCL officials expect the yellow line to carry over 2.5 lakh passengers a day as soon as the whole fleet of trains is delivered and functional. The corridor integrates with the main metro lines at key intersections: RV Road (Green Line), Jayadeva Hospital (pink line) and central silk plate (Blue line, phase 2a and 2b).
Another remarkable feature is its integration with the first double overpass between Silk Board Junction and Ragigudd Metro, designed to alleviate one of the most overloaded sections of Bengalur.
The yellow line is expected to bring much needed relief to thousands of employees working in Electronic City, the main IT Cluster that organizes several multinational companies. By offering a direct metro connection from the southern living areas to the IT hub, it could significantly reduce commuting, shorten the dependence on private vehicles and relieve pressure on the overloaded road network in the city.
Delayed project
When the construction began in 2017, the expectations were high that the yellow line would work within four years. However, the project met several roadblocks. The delay of land acquisition slowed initial progress, while the Covid-19 pandemic disrupted the job offer, construction schedule and logistics.
The main wound came from the delay in receiving the rolling vehicles from CRRC Nanjing, the Chinese manufacturer closed the delivery of the train. In 2019, CRRC received a CRRC contract in the amount of £ 1,578 to deliver 216 metro coaches, with the condition that the establishment of a production facility in India, a commitment to which the company has not been met.
This non -compliance with the regulations has significantly slowed the project, which caused BMRCL to issue more CRRC notifications and even consider calling 372 GBP. To break blocked, CRRC entered a partnership with Titagarh Rail Systems Limited based in Calcutta, which allowed trains to continue.
Currently, the yellow line has only three train sets. The fourth set is on the way from the Titagarh facility and is expected to be delivered to the Bengalur Metro by mid -August, the officials said.
