Congress on Sunday (October 5, 2025) described the question of the concentration of wealth and claimed that it was driven by economic policies of the government and claimed that it was not only a problem for the economy, but a “direct attack on the soul of democracy”.
The General Secretary of the In-Benbar Communication Jairam Ramesh has shared a report on media media reports on X, claiming that India is now becoming a new center of billionaires and the number of rich people in the country is growing rapidly year after year.

“One message after another is a warning of extensive wealth concentration in India.
“This huge concentration of wealth, managed by the economic policy of the government of the government, creates a massive economic inequality in our country. This inequality leads to extensive social uncertainty and dissatisfaction,” he said.
Recent events in other countries have shown that the same extreme economic inequality and crippled democratic institutions have become catalysts of political anarchy, he said.
This government is pushing India the same way, Mr. Ramesh said.
“Several industrialists will become richer and richer thanks to the power connection. The Prime Minister’s policies focus only on the benefits of his several industrial friends,” he said.
The MSME sector, the backbone of the Indian economy, is under unprecedented pressure, and this pressure is not only a domestic policy, but also a failure of foreign policy.
“Opportunities for ordinary people are shrinking. Inflation has grown so high that even employed people are increasingly burdening debt instead of savings. Investments in education and health are constantly decreasing and social security systems are weakening,” Ramesh said.
Successful schemes such as MGNGA, which provided a social and economic security network for millions of people, are now struggling with wage crises, added that workers do not even get in time.
“Such extreme concentrations of wealth is not only a problem for the economy, but a direct attack on the soul of democracy itself. When economic power is concentrated in a handful of hands, they will also prefer political decisions,” Ramesh said.
This leads to growing social and economic inequality, he said.
As a result, millions of citizens are gradually excluded from the process of democracy and development, Ramesh said.
The cumulative wealth of people in the M3M Hurun India Rich List 2025 is bound to 167 Lakh Crore, which corresponds to almost half of the Indian GDP.
The list has 1,687 individuals with a wealth of 1,000 CRS RS, which was 284, while there are 148 new participants.
Hurun said India has created a billionaire every week in the last two years, while those who are in the list add 1,991 crore every day.
