
A “mock civil defense exercise against enemy attack” was held at 10 locations across Delhi on Friday, April 2, at 8:00 p.m. The exercise was organized by the North Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA).
Preparations for the “Civil Defense Mock Exercise on Enemy Attack” were completed during a meeting held on April 1 under the leadership of Ajay Kumar, IAS, DM North East, Delhi.
“A comprehensive tabletop exercise was successfully conducted today at DC Office Complex, Nand Nagri to finalize preparations for the Simulated Civil Defense Exercise against enemy attack scheduled for 04/02/2026,” the statement said.

Why are these mock civil defense exercises being held?
Ajay Kumar, DM/DEO of North East Delhi District, told X that the mock exercise “is being held in Delhi on 04/02/2026 to test emergency preparedness”.
“This exercise is for your safety. Your cooperation will help us manage disasters better,” the statement said.
The exercise comes amid an ongoing war between the US, Israel and Iran.
Is there any real danger?
Authorities clarified that this was only a mock exercise and there was “no real danger of any kind”. They also urged residents not to panic over these exercises.
Public Awareness Notice issued by District Disaster Management Office (North East) and District Civil Defense Office, North East District, Office of District Magistrate Delhi (North East), informing people about the simulated exercise and detailing what they should and shouldn’t do.
