Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray on Saturday (September 26, 2026) announced a joint public march with Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray in Mumbai on October 4, protesting against the special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

Thackeray said, “We will organize the protest together, but it would be a public movement to draw attention to the electoral roll revision process.”

Describing the Election Commission of India (ECI) as a wing of the BJP, he targeted ECI chief Gyanesh Kumar, saying, “He headed the ECI as part of the BJP and committed fraud on the citizens of India under the name of SIR.

In September, Mr Thackeray criticized the BJP for using people like Gyanesh Kumar to arm and abuse power. He stated, “Irregularities in the SIR and even the Election Commissioners are talking about them, the conclusion is that the SIR process should be scrapped.”

He called on the opposition parties in the country to come together on the issue and launch a massive demonstration demanding the election to be conducted through ballot papers.

Time and venue will be announced later.
