MLC Dayakar refutes Bandi’s allegations, says BJP has no clear mandate in Karimnagar

February 15, 2026

Congress MLC Addanki Dayakar dismissed Union Home Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar’s allegations regarding political deals in Karimnagar Municipal Corporation and claimed that the BJP has not secured a clear mandate despite emerging as the single largest party.

Speaking to reporters at the Gandhi Bhavan here on Saturday, Mr. Dayakar said that despite all the hype and provocations by the Union Minister, the BJP failed to secure the magic number required to claim the mayor’s post outright.

Countering Mr. Sanjay’s allegations of a Congress pact, Mr. Dayakar argued that forming an “alliance” before or after elections is a normal political process depending on local conditions. He clarified that Congress had no formal alliance with AIMIM.

“We have an understanding only at the local level. In fact, Congress candidates fought against AIMIM in several divisions and lost,” he said.

Slamming the Union minister for inviting independent corporators, Mr. Dayakar asked, “Why did you invite independent corporators home at night and hand over your scarves to them?”

The Congress MLC condemned Mr. Bandi Sanjay’s statement that he would drive away those who would grab the mayorship if the party failed to secure the post of mayor. “You are the Minister of State for Home Affairs. Yet you speak in a manner that disturbs law and order,” he said.

Mr. Dayakar further pointed out that the BJP could not win even a single municipality out of 42 bodies despite having several MPs, MLAs and MLCs.

The Congress leader also questioned the BRS as to why the party did not campaign actively in Karimnagar and Nizamabad and why working president KT Rama Rao did not campaign in Karimnagar despite campaigning in Sircilla. He also targeted Nizamabad MP Dharmapuri Arvind for his alleged “insulting and inflammatory language”.
