A day after sitting Congress legislator V. Naveen Yadav won the Jubilee Hills by-election with a margin of 24,729 votes, his father Srisailam Yadav on Saturday met Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi to thank him for the support extended by his party.
Mr Yadav arrived early afternoon at the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen headquarters in Darussalaam with a throng of supporters and met party lawmakers, including Mohammed Majid Hussain and then Mr Owaisi.
AIMIM closely coordinated and led campaigning efforts with the Congress in key areas of the Jubilee Hills constituency in their bid to help Naveen, who was contesting against Bharat Rashtra Samithi’s Maganti Sunithi and Bharatiya Janata Party’s Lankala Deepak Reddy.
The Congress-AIMIM combine has been trying to target voters from their strongholds like Shaikpet, Rahmatnagar and Erragadda areas and get them to vote in large numbers.
