Missing case of Nancy Guthrie: The daughter of Savannah, 54, co-anchor of NBC News’ popular “Today” morning show, shared a powerful message for the kidnappers, saying it’s “never too late to do the right thing” two weeks after her mother disappeared. She said she still has hope.
Taking to Instagram, she said: “It’s been two weeks since our mom was taken and I just wanted to come out and say that we still have hope and we still believe.
“And I wanted to tell whoever has her or knows where she is that it’s never too late and you’re not lost and you’re never alone and it’s never too late to do the right thing,” she added.
Nancy was last seen at her home in Tucson on January 31st and was reported missing the following day.
Along with her brother Cameron Guthrie and sister Annie Guthrie, Savannah has shared numerous videos pleading for her mother’s return and urging the public’s help in solving the case. In one of the videos, they also showed readiness to meet ransom demands.
Investigators said her blood was discovered on the front porch. The alleged ransoms have been sent to media organizations, but two payment deadlines have already passed.
They obtained a DNA sample from a glove discovered near Nancy Guthrie’s Arizona residence that appears to match gloves worn by a masked drifter caught on body camera footage before her abduction two weeks ago, the FBI said Sunday.
Analysis of the glove could yield what forensic specialists are calling a “hit” once a nationwide search for the DNA sample is completed Monday, according to the agency.
The FBI said preliminary results from a private crime lab in Florida were received Saturday. As of Sunday, the findings were awaiting “quality control and official confirmation” before being submitted for comparison with known DNA profiles of individuals and crime scenes maintained in a national database.
Meanwhile, officials have expressed serious concerns about her health, noting that she is dependent on essential daily medication. She has a pacemaker and has a history of high blood pressure and heart problems, according to a sheriff’s audio dispatcher from Broadcastify.
Sheriff’s deputies and FBI agents, acting on a federal court-approved arrest warrant related to Guthrie’s case, searched a second residence in an upscale neighborhood less than two miles from her home on Friday night, officials confirmed to Reuters over the weekend.
The sheriff’s office added that one person was interviewed during a related traffic stop that evening, though no arrests were made in connection with either incident. The suspected kidnapping has garnered considerable media attention, along with expressions of sympathy and support from President Donald Trump.
