In a surprising incident that quickly gained worldwide attention, Miss Grand Thailand contestant Kamolwan Chanago suffered an accident on stage when her veneers slipped mid-speech. That moment occurred during the preliminary round of the competition on Wednesday, when Chanago – representing Pathum Thani – introduced herself.
Viral video sparks widespread reaction
Footage of the incident, shared by The Urban Herald on Instagram on March 27, shows Chanago confidently addressing the audience before her false teeth unexpectedly came loose. Despite the disturbance, she did not leave the stage. Instead, she briefly turned away from the cameras, adjusted her veneers, and continued to introduce herself without hesitation.
Composure under pressure is applauded
Her calm response drew immediate applause from the audience. Buoyed by the crowd’s reaction, Chanago continued her performance and confidently completed her runway. Dressed in a shimmering evening gown, she struck a pose and smiled for the cameras, maintaining her pose throughout.
Social media praises ‘flawless recovery’
The clip quickly went viral on social media, garnering millions of views and sparking conversations about the pressure the contestants face. Many users focused on her composed reaction rather than the accident itself.
“I know she’s humiliated, poor thing,” one user wrote. Another commented: “She handled it better than most of us handle a bad day. Is this the most iconic moment of the gala?”
Others echoed similar sentiments with comments such as “Flawless recovery” and “Still eating. Even better.”
“She actually pulled it off exceptionally well! And wow, what a catwalk entrance with her glamorous scarf flowing and swishing,” commented another user. Another wrote: “Hats off to her confidence.” Another said: “She handled it like a real pro.” Another wrote: “A perfect example of staying strong no matter what.”
The final will be held in Bangkok
