“I am deeply saddened by the tragic car blast in Delhi that claimed precious lives and many injured. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayers for the speedy recovery of the injured. May Almighty Allah give strength and patience to all those affected by this tragedy,” Mirwaiz said in a post on X.
According to his party, MP Rashid, imprisoned in Tihar Jail in Delhi, has decided to start a two-day hunger strike against the attack from November 12. “Er. Rashid has formally informed the Tihar Jail authorities of his decision to go on a two-day hunger strike from November 12 (Wednesday) at Jail No. 1,” AIP spokesperson Inam Un Nabi said.
In a letter shared by AIP, Rashid expressed his deep grief over the tragic loss of precious lives in the Delhi blast. “I unequivocally condemn the attack; it is an attack on humanity,” said the jailed MP.
Avoid the path of violence
The MP also expressed his concern over media reports that even educated Kashmiris, including doctors, are being pushed to the path of violence. “Through the hunger strike, he wants to remind Kashmiris that we cannot afford to lose more young and educated people,” said an AIP spokesman.
Mr Nabi said Mr Rashid had made it clear on behalf of his constituents that “violence has no place in a civilized society”. “The AIP leader appealed to all stakeholders to give real peace a fair chance,” he said.
MP Rashid also quoted Gandhi as saying in the letter: “If I have to choose between supporting violence or being called a coward, I would like to be called a coward.
