A 16-year-old high school student gave birth to a stillborn fetus in the washroom of an examination center in Kothagudem when she appeared for a vocational examination on Friday, February 27, 2026.
Police said that during the examination, the girl sought permission from the supervisor and rushed to the washroom where she gave birth to the fetus. The incident came to light soon after, prompting university authorities to alert the police. Based on the complaint that was initially filed by the school principal, the case was registered. After the minor’s statement was recorded on Saturday, sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act (POCSO) were subsequently invoked and the Palvancha police began a detailed investigation.
