Days after Renee Nicole Good was killed by ICE agents in Minneapolis, six federal prosecutors in Minnesota reportedly resigned Tuesday local time over the Trump administration’s attempts to investigate her widow, Becca, and its reluctance to investigate the shooter.
The development was first reported by The New York Times, citing people familiar with the decision by federal prosecutors.
Those who have resigned include career prosecutor Joseph H Thompson, his deputy Harry Jacobs and chief prosecutors Melinda Williams and Thomas Calhoun-Lopez.
The resignation came after senior US Department of Justice (DOJ) officials pushed for a criminal investigation into the actions of Renee Nicole Good’s widow, Becca.
Good was shot and killed by an ICE agent last Wednesday, with her killing sparking mass outrage and protests in Minnesota as well as other parts of the US.
