Ministers, leaders, industrialists call on Chief Minister Vijay

Newly inducted ministers from the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) Congress and the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) called on Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay at the Chennai Secretariat on Friday.

Higher Education Minister P Viswanathan, Tourism Minister S Rajesh Kumar, Social Justice Minister Vanni Arasu and Minority Welfare Minister AM Shahjahan met Mr Vijay at his office.

President of the VCK Thol. Thirumavalavan and General Secretaries D. Ravikumar and Sinthanai Selvan also met the Chief Minister and held discussions.

KM Mammen, Chairman and Managing Director, MRF Limited; Arun Mammen, Vice Chairman and Managing Director; and Rahul Mammen, Managing Director, met Mr. Vijay and discussed MRF Limited’s operations in Tamil Nadu and the investments being made in the manufacturing and export sectors. They also presented the chief minister with a cricket bat.

Jinnah Rafiq Ahmed, Chairman, Kothari Industrial Corporation Limited, also met the Chief Minister and discussed the investments the company is making in the non-leather footwear sector.

Ministers who have recently taken office have been reviewing the functioning of their departments. Natural Resources Minister TK Prabhu has ordered an inspection of all stone quarries in the state. Mr Vanni Arasu signed three files ordering the release of funds for various programmes.
